Is it just me or does the Gen 3 2wd Rangers have more rake than the generation before it and after? Because all of the Gen 4 2wds I see are fairly level and most of the Gen 3s I see have a pretty noticeable rake to them. What gives?

With the advent of the torsion bar IFS in the Gen4 it allowed more ability to correctly tune the ride height over the coil sprung TIB.

I don't have as good a theory on the Gen2 vs Gen3 thing. I think it's possible that they increased the payload on the Gen3 and in turn had to put stronger, and therefore higher riding, springs in the rear.

+1.

As far as tuning, meh. It's just a completely new suspension/front end design. Apples to oranges.

The rear is always higher; when you have the bed loaded, the truck sits level and for stability/handling purposes.

This kind of reminds me of loaded/gross/tongue weights when hauling.

I don't think the 2nd Gens are any different from the 3rd Gens, really. I think it's just you.

LOL. I know the rear ends are designed to be higher. Its just that some of them seem to be more level as mine has a pretty noticeable rake to it. And some of them I can't really tell if there is any rake at all. I dunno. It just may as well be me and my own imagination.

Yea, my back end has always sat higher. I thought after the lift it would be level...but it is the same way as stock. I would like my front end to sit just a bit higher then the rear end. I see so many of the larger truck 2wd and 4wd that have been lifted and alot of them have the front ends way up higher then the rear. I think that looks stupid....my .02......

Don't use 3" lift blocks. Use 2" ! :thefinger:

So this doesn't bother you, right?

But hey...it's totally functional. For reals. Prerunners are great.
