Help me choose a practical tire size

Problem is, they don't really make tires that look like mud tires and preform like all season tires.

If an individual doesn't care about retaining a tires warranty or getting max life from said tire.. they can always sipe their MT's themselves.

I've considered siping my kendas cause they're God awful in the snow.

The AT2 have siping, the spacing on the Lugs is just real big and spins in the snow. I haven't really had any issue with them in the rain though.

I had a set of BFG mud terrains that were siped. There is a place in town that will do it. Rocks and gravel and stuff will eat them up quick though and I don't think it made any difference in the snow/ice... siping an AT tire might make a bigger difference, would be pretty similar to a snow tire at that point.

Good to know it didn't really make a difference. I won't bother now

Heavier tires hurt your performance almost as much as larger diameter. If you can stay away from an LT and get something aggressive and lighter with good quality that’s what I would do.

I'm on my 3rd Ranger, and my go to has always been 31x10.50 R15. Or its metric equivalent lol.

I've had the Falken LT's on the ranger for awhile now, not the best wet weather traction, but great at everything else....haven't tried snow yet, I would have to drive far for that.

I believe I'll go with the Cooper AT's from Walmart.

Going to be hard to beat that price.

Once I get the wheels cleaned up, I'll take them by my local Walmart and get them installed.

the stock 235/75/15 works great on my ranger. i was going to get the same for the wrangler but the wife complained. so i got 30x9.5/15 for that. i think they would look perfectly fine on the ranger since its an edge and sits tall

Walmart may not want to mount them because they aren't the factory size. Seems like it's up to managerial discretion whether or not a store will install a different size than what's on the door sticker/In their system.

To get around that, if you can, just take the wheels to them in a different vehicle and don't tell them what they're going on.

I had that happen with a ‘93 taurus, chinamart had a certian tire on sale but only in certian sizes, tires on the car originally were 205/75/14’s , the “sale” tire was a 205/70/14. no big deal right?, just a bit smaller but $10/tire less. cool. Well they wait until the car is up on a lift to say they wont mount those tires because its not the size listed on the label but they do have the proper size on hand, just $10 more /tire. Tires were already off the car by then. I was mad as hell and told them they could put the tires back on the car & park it out side , and Im paying nothing. Ive not took a car in for tires since, take the wheels in and wait. Usually its less of a wait anyways. And I dont end up with either loose lugnuts or overtightend lugnuts. Sure its a little inconvenient but saves the “size/sticker” hassle. I dont like how they would run my vin # and look over other crap like sway bar links & stuff. You have 1 thing to do. 1. NTB is the worst, after what I went through with them I wont even drop off rims for tires.

Yes, I plan on taking the wheels in by themselves. I haven't had any issues like that around me, but I don't buy tires at walmart much either.

Ended up with the Walmart Cooper AT's (235/75R15). Pleased with them so far. They seem to be a great fit for a stock rig.
