There is only ONE 5sp trans used on the 4.0 engine

I actually recently corrected a guy on Craigslist who listed a Mitsu trans from a 2.9 Ranger as being for an Explorer. He replied telling me that they used them in "certain year Explorers" and that it will definitely bolt right in! I hate talking to brick walls.

o ok thanks guys, i mite have to get a used one somewhere cuz idk when this thing is going go...think the throwout bearing and a couple syncros are bad

this guy didn't happen to live anywhere near Shawnee, OK did he?

I drove 2 hours to pick up a transmission that had been listed on craigslist as being for an Explorer, got their and found a Mitsu. I told him I'd call him back after I measured the length of mine and made sure they would interchange (knowing they would). The next day I went and pulled one out of an Explorer and paid half the price for it.

No he was somewhere in PA. In a perfect world one would be able to just search the internet for a manual trans for an explorer and know that they're getting a M5OD. Unfortunately ignorance and stupidity prevent that.
