help i might be screwed?

Well, the ignition switch sends that power to the EEC relay coil, so that's pretty much all that's left.

If you HAVE to drive it, do the jumper. Might also check the battery negative cable has a good ground to the radiator support. I'm pretty sure that's the ground for that relay (see if that EEC relay socket #85 has continuity to ground). Should be a ground from the battery to the block, another from the head to the Wiper motor, a couple on the DS fender, another from the chassis to the frame under the cab, and I'm not sure where else.

Hopefully, someone with an 88 wiring diagram will throw you a rope.

Bueller?

ok well ill have to check the chassis ground if i can crawl in the snow if its good ill try the ignition switch just have to figure out wich part inb mine (cylinder and lock, or switch) think it have continuity to 85 will double check if they dont have work for me in morning all grounds looked goo tho...(you think with all the grounds for radio equipment it wouldnt be one lol)

ok new switch still nothing new relays new fuses charged battery good grounds even added a few and still nuthing if i go around the eec relay and i can run fuel pump all day long goin around its relay and still no spark....think its time to park it in feild and use it 4 target practice:annoyed: :pissedoff:

I have almost the same problem, it got cold and my 88 would not start, but when it warmed up that day it started right up, I found that the black top relay was going bad, and I didn't want to pay 47.99 plus tax at autozone, so i just bought two 40 amp relays at 10.99 each, and rewired the housings to use them, fixed my problem, never has bother me again.
I found out later I could have gone to O'Reiilys and got the same part for 13.99 plus tax.

stuiped me.

If your going to park it for target practice, Can I have it, I need a 88 I can junk out for parts on mine.

no codes no anything and yes the battery is charged and fuses are good

FUSE was the first thing i checked also replaced all of them out of being curios so what else and its new relays so y should i have to jump them

guess i should have kept the 83 carbed ranger i had...

You know the method you used to jumper the fuel pump relay?

Do the same jumper to the EEC relay, then crank it over.

For some reason, you only have ONE 12V at that relay with the key to RUN.

Jumper that. See if it runs.

Yes, I know, it's new. But if the key isn't sending an ADDITIONAL 12V to pull in that new relay, it won't run. Yes, I know you replaced the ignition switch. Just try jumpering the EEC relay.

well now it only sparks after i stop turning it over just as i let off the switch

I know the best thing you can do, and you wont have any more headaces.

frieght ship it to me in East Tennessee :)

hope you wont mind the bullet holes as big as a fist lol

hey, im new on here but i have a suggestion. put the truck in neutral, set e-brake, get under the dash and grab the clutch switch and slide it to the top of the pushrod for the master cyl, hit the key and see what happens.
