HELP HELP HELP any ford techs out there?

if you did not use the ford tool to install the cam syncro then it is out of time. the computer uses the crank and cam sensors to figure that the engine is in time. the main purpose of the cam is for injector timing. have a ford dealer diag it. i am a ford tech. i see more engine damage caused by people trying to do work they should not do with out tools or knowledge then bad maintenance habits.

This is incorrect, the main purpose of a cam is to open and close valves. Injector timing with the cam is its own system. Injection timing of course though is determined by the position of the cam. I do agree though that this should not be performed without required special tools. At least you've got the book though.

Best of luck,
Kyle

Man I am reading a lot about these things going out, my truck is kinda shakey until it warms up but after that only a very slight motor shake every once in a while, it was worse until I changed the fuel filter but much smoother now. Im not getting any noise from my syncro or the CPS so I wasn't worried about it but now I am what do you guys think? Im not trying to highjack the thread I just figured I could get some info while on the subject.

I don't think a rough running engine has ever been a
symptom of the cam synchro failing. In my experience,
it was a squeak coming from the passenger side
wheel well at idle.

If you're worried about it, remove the sensor and lube
the synchro shaft from the top. Take a small drinking
straw and suction up a few drops of oil, then release the
oil at the high side of the synchro assembly, so the oil will
flow downward toward the shaft. That will lube the
top synchro bushing, which seems to be the one that
seizes up........

I think I will do that, I don't have the money to replace it and like I said its not making noise now but I don't want it to start, thanks for the info I am grateful:)

question i know this may sound stupid but i had same issue with my ranger someone before me put the spark plugs and cross threaded them. well i took heads off and had them fix i would check that. it fixed my problem no more miss no more shake.
