Go to My Computer, right click on C drive, go to Properties (bottom), in here go to the Tools tab, click Check Now and make sure both check boxes are selected, hit Start, it should say 'Schedule disk check'. This will allow you to reboot and Windows will then perform an actual chkdsk that'll do stuff before the OS loads. Good luck.

x2.

If the check disk doesn't find it, did you try remove & reinstall (R&R)?

I usually just remove a program and then run the chkdsk and/or defrag..then reinstall the application...

Would also be a good time to check the volume for free space...files corrupt much easier or are harder to find when the disk is over 50% full...

Thank You "FLECK" but it tells me that it was unable to check disk

You probably have a bad sector on your hard drive. Remove the offending progem completely including registry entries then run chkdsk again. If you can't run it like has been mentioned, pop in the XP disk and boot to it. Go to the recovery console and run it there.

Will not let me remove quicktime under the program files
it is in the program file that is corrupt, say my windows live email is corrupt as well

Well, did you try it again and see if 'schedule disk check' came up? That's when you say yes and reboot and Windows runs chkdsk.

If that doesn't work I think you might just have a virus.
