Alright. I know this is a ranger forum. I don't want to make another forum account just for one thing and I know some guys on here know about this. So here's my predicament. My motor is starting to make noise. Not like a tick or anything but a grind. In between the tyranny and motor. Automatically leads to being the rear bearing. And you can here a slight rubbing noise all the way up the oil pan. Awsome the crank bearings are going out. This truck as of rite now is my daily driver and so I need to find a quick way to fix this in a weekend. I can take a Friday and Monday off so I can have a 4 day weekend. The motor is a 92 460. since I'm pretty sure a full engine rebuild isn't going to be done in 4 days with my adequate knowledge and tools along with my low budget. I'm going to have to find a running used 7.5 motor that's complete top to bottom and swap it. One that I can simply plug in and go. Unless of course you guys think using an 80s carb one would be quicker (less wires) and will bolt up to my tranny. I have a low budget and I don't need a perfect motor. Just one that will last me while I can rebuild this one and throw it back in. Thanks for the help in advance. I just need some opinions

Never done one but I would think you could swap over intakes and sensors onto a carbed motor. Tho the distributor might be an issue if the present motor is dis. subbed for some knowledge.

With the 7.5 if you switch the carb you have to switch the heads too. Which means gaskets and I don't have the budget for that rite now. I just don't know if I can throw in a carbureted motor in without having to screw with anything

460's didn't get the DIS treatment, your best bet would be to get a late 80's to early 90's truck motor and swap it in. There wasn't much change done to the motor itself, so you shouldn't have much of an issue swapping it in...

So I can't straight swap in the carb motor without having to change out stuff? And am I not able to swap in a late 9th 7.5? They were made up to 98
