Hello all.
I have a 94 EB exploder....love the thing....when ever it is warm out she seems not to start....shell crank and crank...thinking its either fuel or electrically related...ill let it sit for an hour or two and shell start right up. but have noticed it only happens when its warm out...any suggestions...kinda puts a hold on all my plans..
Thanks all
Nick

Good afternoon,

Check all the basics first, all vaccum lines, spark plug condition/gap and wires.

I'm thinking failing wet sparkplugs that evaporated off after a couple hours. Just an old sportscar mechanic guess here.

Good luck

Hey all...just a update...we had the ICM and the coil tested, both were good..MAF was good also...we replaced the CKP (crankshaft position sensor) and it started up right away...but then did not start after....we figured out that it is not the fuel pump either...had great fuel pressure...not really sure what it could be...i got it started and drove it home...just went out and it started right up...thinking it might be a bad connection somewhere...but if it does not start again i dont know where to start...if it was a bad connection to coders pick that up or no??
Thanks for the help and suggestions!
Nick

It does sound like it could be a bad connection. Check all your grounds real well. One of them may not be getting good contact therefore causing the vehicle to start intermittenly.

what are the main grounds, im pretty sure each sensor doesnt have a ground as easily found as say the ground for the block thats on the fire wall but is there any say dominant grounds?? dont even know if you go that lol but o welll.
thanks tho

The black battery cable is the ground to the battery.. The cable from the engine to the firewall is the main ground to the body. Many vehicles have other grounds from the engine to the frame and the body.

yea it started up 3 different times today perfectly...then leavin the girlfriends house decided not to start..left it there...i dont even know where to start...weve tested alot of parts....kinda frustrating

When it wont start..have you checked for spark?? could be a bad module coil pack could be bad ignition switch..just some ideas

Also check the connections at the starter selenoid on the top of the inner fender well, do it with the negative off the battery. DC gets hot fast.

This has caused hard starting for me in the past. This relay also routes power to the ignition system.

I always carry a spare in my trunk for the old 260 and 289's when on the road.

Good luck

Check the ignition module, etc. If it has a bad seal it will alow moisture in and cause hard starts and missing. The Crank posistion sensor was a good thing to look at......hmmm. Check the relay for the fuel pump or ECC. Replace them and see if that helps.

Hey Guys, I think we've narrowed it down to the computer..we checked the ICM, CKP, coil, MAF, Relays, connections, fuel pump, has spark....so ive talked some people i know with exploders and they said yeah computers go bad very rarely but could be the case so im gonna call around, see if theres any cheaper then advance($115) and go from there...if it still does it after,...anybody willing to give me some dynamite???? :)
Thanks everybody
Nick

Remember, safety first during a difficult job.

Always throw your tool in a safe direction and at nothing you do not intend to destroy.

Good luck
