So I'm doing my camshaft synchro because it started squeaking.

Got the old one out, lined up the new one and in it went.

However, I cannot get it do go down the least 1/4 inch or so... the cam has caught, and the its in the housing good but will NOT just go down the last little bit.

Do I need to tap it in or something? Hammer and block of wood or something? It seems like there is a gasket toward the back that I'm not sure if its getting caught on or not. I wouldnt think so because the old one slides right in and completly down.

HELP!

yea its the right one... ford part and all (I'm a counter guy for a Napa also)

Just realized I did have to tap it in a little bit with the rubber end of a screwdriver and a hammer.

Now back to rerouting the new belt wohoo.

Thats typically when you install it with a dry o-ring or the oil pump drive is not lined up. If it had an o-ring and it was installed dry it could have been torn

Ugh, thats not good news. I saw this on another forum that some of them had to gently tap it in.

I mean I did oil it up, but I had to take it out a few times. I eventually got it in and ran the truck around the block with no CEL or problems so I'm assuming I'm ok.

Although I HATE making assumptions....

Just in case someone needing the same help reads this in the future...

Soak your replacement part fully submerged in clean oil.

This lubes your seals and fully oils the gears so there is no dry rubbing at start up.
