i have a 99 grandam... POS when i bought the car the last owner said that she would have the car not start become of the system...i have had the car for over a year with no problem but the security light was always on...now it blinks and does not start...how to i reset the system so i can start it?

have you tried un hooking the battery for a couple of mins to reset everything

That would be the horrid resistance chip key if I'm not mistaken. Has the little plastic and metal chip through the key.

They like to wear down as they age and then start not giving the right resistance and so the stupid things won't start.

If you can, just get the whole anti-theft system pulled. GM has the worst anti-theft systems out there.

i completly forgot about those as ive never owned a car with one

He kicked it in the balls and then forcibly inserted himself into the tailpipe, and viola, it ran. Most likely trying to get away from the rape.

I hate it when someone don`t tell the solution. I can`t remember if there is a rule for posting that when you figure it out you follow through with the solution

haha no not like that.....i had to put the key on the on position and let it set for a half our...then turn of the car and take the key and then it ran

I came accross a GM with this problem. We cut him a new key with the proper pill in it and it worked fine. I suggest you do the same. It would suck to have this happen when you Really needed your car. Like when your about to get a but kickin' from That big bully guy for owning a GM porduct!

You basically ended up reprogramming the key, so now it thinks the worn out pill is right.

I think.
