HELP.. 94 2.3 ranger run rough

i took over working on a 94 ford ranger 5 speed, runs rough. i am confused that when i unplug the plug on the alt. it runs alot better, but as soon as i plug it back in it spits sputters and dies.. i was told that the timing belt, alt, spark plugs, and wires also the crank sensor have been relplaced. i am getting codes for egr and pip. i have cleaned electrical connections and checked for vacuum leaks.

IIRC, the wires for the crankshaft position sensor and the wires from the alternator are in the same loom. Check to see if they're not shorting out.


Are you comfortable reading schematics? I would suggest going through all of the wires between the charging system and the ignition system to make sure they're not wrong.
