HELP!!! 2.9 is gutless (duh)

New codes tomorrow...

When will these guys learn about putting stock plugs in ANY engine? Please guys NO PLUG can do better than the stock one that came in your engine.

Amen brother, my father in-law changed his out on his 94 ex with a set of Bosch plugs, and wondered why his fuel milage went south, I replaced them with the motorcraft coppers that it called for and his fuel milage cam back and was better, he still can't understand why the "high dollar" plugs was worst.

I don't know if it is a engine issue or if it is a transmission issue. When its in neutral it revs up fine and sounds great...

When it is in gear is when it either shudders, almost dies, or "backfires". Could it be something with the transmission? I found out it used to be a automatic and now it is a standard. Could those codes be coming up from the Auto trans computer?

Or could the clutch be slipping and grabbing randomly? It goes into gear ok and shifts alright but the grabbing is concerning me.

PLEASE HELP ASAP!

Plot thickens... cats are hollowed out and manifolds are glowing red. Passenger more than driver.

Now what?

New clutch and same codes. timing is at 10 with SPOUT unhooked. bogging between 2500-4500 and then it picks up til the next gear hits the same RPM

You are running lean, that engine is getting REALLY hot. Have you checked fuel pressure yet? It sounds to me like you aren't getting enough fuel into the cylinders.

Tinkering with the truck resulted in finding only one wire hooked up on the o2 sensor. replaced and clicked timing to 14. Omg it's a drag truck with a 6 cylinder

= solved
