look under the battery there should be a moduel with a vacum line and cable going to it that engages diff. check for leaks. I had the same issue in my 92 sonoma

ok thanks ill check it out at lunch, If it thats my problem can i just pull that wire and leave my front diff locked the rest of the winter or would that cause problems?

if the vacum dissingages the diff if i did have a leak wouldn't the diff allways be engaged?

Yes, it has to have vacuum to engage the front end. Check the vacuum lines going to the tcase for cracks. It could also be the ported switch that the lines hook to may be bad. IIRC, they used to sell them in the HELP! section at the parts stores.

After getting back from the hollidays, I got the pickup fixed, the whole line from the t-case to the actuator was kinda rotten so I just replaced it all and problem fixed. thanks everyone for their help.
