Hello from SW Missouri. I am currently working on my 92 Ranger XLT. I hope to be able to pick your brains and add any insight i may have. I'm used to working on cars from the 60's so this whole fuel injection thing is new to me.

Welcome!

There’s a pretty extensive tech library in the black menu bar at the top, you may have to press the right arrow if you’re on a cell phone.

Of course you’re always free to ask.

Howdy! Welcome to the site.

@uglytruckling92 Welcome to TheRangerStation.

I'm pretty much one of the novices around here.

However I am nosy at heart, so what kind of issues are you having with your truck?
What size motor does it have.
Is it two wheel drive, four wheel drive or 2x4?
Regular cab, extended cab?
Short bed, long bed or stepside bed?

Got any pictures of it?
Having pictures when asking for advice is always helpful.
It's always easier to help someone who is able to show pictures of the problem.

Good luck with your truck and hopefully you will be having some fun driving it soon.

Thank you!

I Have a 1992 XLT with a 2.3L in it. It's been running super rough recently. Idles really low (about 500 rpm), smells of strong gasoline when running. Every so often there will be a sucking sound from under the hood, and it will run like it's brand new. It seems like it runs worse after it has been raining. I don't have any pictures just yet unfortunately.

So far, I have replaced:

Plugs and wires
Alternator
Starter
Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Battery
Ignition Control Module
Ignition Coil Pack

None of this has seemed to help. I have cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body a few times.

I tried running the codes but the check engine light just stays on instead of flashing codes.

I'll try to get some pictures soon! Thank you for the welcome, and sorry for the novel of a reply.

@uglytruckling92
Books for replys are my normal. So no worries my new friend.

There are a lot of guys on here that are really good at knowing how to help others.
1 thing I know for sure that these guy say over and over again is stop throwing money at it before you figure out what's wrong.
Each time you change a part it is a possibility that you may be causing more problems.

As for books for replys read some of my posts and you will see some books

I have a thread titled,
" I'm sure I got a Short ".
If you would like to see how much of a novice I really am and at the same time get to know me a little better and the other guys that are very good at giving advice read some of my tread.

It's passed my bed time so at this point I will say good night brother.
And I wish you much luck.
I will post more tomorrow.
Good night brother.

Oh yeah 1 other piece of advice I can give you is look on eBay for a book for you truck's year and make called,
" Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual. "
I found 1 for my truck for under $30.00.

Good night brother once again.
