Hello,
My daughter "gifted" me her 1997 Ranger XLT 3.0l 2wd as a retirement present... it suffered from hard shifting no speedometer, rusting bed, no ac. So far replaced plugs, fuel filter, and air filter (all seemed original lol). Replaced speed sensor and connector to speed sensor... hard shifting went away and came back (though not as hard)… speedometer still doesn't work. must be a break in wire. Good thing I will have more time to work on it... first I need to get the rust under control...
