Im stationed out her at Clarksville, Tn. Just bought a 1996 Ranger the other day. Its a Ext. Cab 4x4 with a 4.0L and 5 Speed manual. I bought the truck for $1000 and was planning on flipping it but started to enjoy driving it around and think now Im going to keep it. Im thinking I want to lift it up and make it a little offroad toy and get around truck. Glad to be part of this forum and looking forward to getting some ideas for the truck.

I live just North of ya up in Madisonville....

we go wheelin at Turkey Bay quite often over at Land Between the Lakes....

I have a 96 like yours but auto, and a few modifications:D

with just coil spacers I ran 32" tires and wheeled the pee out of her:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

I love my Ranger and don't ever plan to part with her.....

Ye, that sounds like fun. I have been to turkey bay a few times. I usually go out on atvs though cuz my other trucks are to big for trails out there but ranger would be fun. I think im going to order the 4" rough country lift for it this week and some 33s with some wheels. Have you changed out your carrier in the rear end? I think mines open and want to swap it out and wondering what other people have been using and how they like it.

I had a Lock-Rite in the rear.....wore it out....then welded the spiders.....

if ya gonna keep it a DD, get a Detroit....can't go wrong with that....

with 33" tires you will want to go with at least 4.10 gears....

as for the Rough Country, I believe they use the "drop plate" on the drivers side which can punch a hole in the D35 diff....look for a lift that has a replacement bracket for the drivers side....
