Hello from Seattle

I just received a 1990 Ranger XLT from my parents who no longer need it/want to maintain it. It's a 2.9L automatic 2wd with the standard cab long bed, basically the ideal spec for hauling stuff around town which is exactly what I need. It's been in my family since the mid-90s. It definitely needs some TLC and I'm hoping to get some advice to get it running and driving the way it should again. Currently having an intermittent issue with stalling at stoplights and a soft brake pedal but I will get more into that stuff in the technical threads.

I already have a lot of experience working on Fords from this era from modifying and maintaining my Foxbody Mustang for the last several years so I feel pretty prepared to dive into this project.

Welcome to TRS. I think you'll find that truck to be surprisingly similar to your Mustang. So much so that many of the parts swap directly. (Like seats.)

That's funny that the seats of all things are a direct swap. A good friend of mine has the 2.3L dual spark plug motor I pulled from my Foxbody when I did my 5.0 swap that is destined to eventually find a home inside his 1985 Ranger to convert it to EFI. It should bolt right in but who knows when that project will get going haha.
