I have a 1989 Ford Ranger 2.9. First time to replace the water pump. Having a poor dogs day getting the harmonic balancer off. I found this site while doing a search for help. Just one question, are gals allowed? Well, one question for now anyway.

Welcome anyone who is willing to bust a knuckle can join. My question is why are you pulling the damper pully. Unless your timing chain cover is leaking it is not necessary. If your pulling the timing chain cover make sure the chain is tite if not slap new chain and sprockets.

Welcome! Anyone's allowed here...unless you're a jerk. They usually get weeded out...

Yeah no reason to remove that balancer. Just a few bolts hold that pump on.
