Hello everyone, just wanted to give a quick intro...

I'm Scott from Rochester, NY. I just picked up my second Ranger a little over 2 weeks ago. It's a 99 4.0 5-speed 4x4 supercab with 188k on it. The head gaskets were shot, starter burned out, no exhaust, and broken parking brake cables. I've replaced the starter and have almost finished up the head gasket job. I've been finding a lot of good information, and seems like some good attitudes here, so I figured I'd sign up. I plan on dd-ing it and probably modding a little here and there (side exhaust for starters)

I had a 95 3.0 about 9 years ago for a very short time. It died on me and even the local dealer couldn't figure out what was wrong without tearing it down. I ended up cutting my losses and buying a Tacoma.

My main car project is an 89 Honda crx. It has a built an 1.6l sohc engine, custom geared transmission with lsd, suspension is all new Oem or upgraded, integra brakes all around, etc. it needs a bunch of work to be road ready but I'm hoping to get back into it soon. It's been a back burner project for the last three years.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting some new faces and learning a thing or 2.

Intros are worthless without a pic, right?

Welcome Scott! Good looking '99. I'm betting it'll pull that CRX on occasion.

Nice truck!
Welcome, from Buffalo.

You've come to the right place. I'm sure anything you plan on doing has been covered on here before. Check out the Tech Library for some initial tips and advice.

With the crx's weight reduction the ranger should pull it with no issue.

I've been reading the tech articles, lots of ideas... I picked up an electric fan and will be doing a side exit exhaust tomorrow- 2.5" pipe with a thrush welded muffler. I also need to run new parking cables to pass state inspections and get it registered.

I did get the truck running earlier this week. I haven't drive it yet, but it sounds like it's strong for 189k.
