I am wanting to lift my truck better than what it is. Right now it is sitting on a block lift and it is to darn rough. Lol.
I want to make my truck a good weekend toy but still be able to drive it 40+ miles a day back and forth to work during the week. As well as whatever I can do to help my 197k mile 4.0l

Your 4.0 has plenty of life left, I pulled my 4.0 at 226k miles due to my trans going south, motor still ran real strong. As far as lift, do you wheel moderate, hard, or easy? What size tire do you run/want to run? Lastly, but importantly, what's your budget? Once these questions are figured out, we can figure what's your best route...

My budget is small for now. Trying to rebuild my finances. Lol

For right now I am running 30/9.50/15 on my truck but I have a set of 5 star ranger wheels from a newer ranger that I would like run that are 16s. To be honest I'm not sure what you mean by wheel moderate.

As for what tires I would like to run, they would have to be good on the road and off. As well as not completely tank my gas mileage. I can understand a little but right now with the 15s and the lift I'm still getting 24-26 highway

I'm just glad my trans was rebuilt back in November lol

There are a few routes you can go. When I say moderate wheeling, I mean how hard do you wheel, are you the adventurous type that likes to try difficult terrain, pushing the limits of your truck, or do you take it easy, ie mild wheeling. Do you or ever thought of doing an SAS? How wild do you want to modify your truck, are you up to trimming your fenders? I'm asking a lot of questions, but they are necessary so you don't spend $$ in places that will be wasted, like putting money into a front axle that you will be replacing down the road. I build offroad trucks for a living, so I'd want you to spend your dollars in the right places...

I would have to say mild off roading but if I get into some tough stuff I want to be able to get through it. I work on a farm off and on and I get into some nasty spots. I sank an 88 F250 in a swampy mess, and it even had good MT tires on it. Lol

I don't mind small modifications, but its my only vehicle and daily driver, so I could have it down longer than a day.

I want to thank you for taking the time to explain things to me. This is my first 4x4 truck I have owned and all I can say is that I won't go back to a car lol

What you need is similar to the truck I am currently building. It's a 94 xcab, 4.0, Dana 44 solid axle, dual tcases, and 36" iroks. For your setup I recommend a solid axle swap, Dana 44, 8.8 or custom rear full float axle, 35-37" tires.
Very similar to another members truck that has been through Moab, ultimate adventures 2012, and daily drives his rig. His screen name is bray d, do a search and you will see just how simple his rig is, but it works, and works well. I've wheeled with him and seen his truck in action.
Best part about your upcoming build, the axle swap can be planned and done in less than a day, along with future upgrades. You won't be able to use the rims you have, but you have a wide selection of both affordable and top of the line rims you can use. You can run stock full size aluminum rims if you choose, or custom beadlocks. You can usually pick up a set of tires, which btw will be your most expensive single purchase, on craigslist or bst...

That is a lot to take in but understandable. This truck has a lot of potential and I just got a list of things to do. Lol.

Now I guess my search begins by finding all the parts needed. Any pointers on where to start looking? And remember I have a small budget right now lol
