This is my first post on this site. I am quite a bit older than most of you but share the same interests. I just bought by dad's Ranger from my sister and her husband. Dad passed away in 1999 and his Ranger was his pride and joy. Long story short is that it soon became neglected and was relegated to runs to the dump and miscellaneous hauling around town. He babied his Ranger and kept it pristine. It really bothered me to see it in the condition it was in so I offered them $500 for it. They accepted and after recharging the battery I drove it home. It had mold and moss on it, leaves everywhere (including in the cowl) and peeling paint on the hood and roof. It has 66,681 actual miles, is a supercab XLT 4x4 with the 2.9, A4LD, Manual TC. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for the info I have already gleaned off this site in getting dad's truck back into the shape he would have wanted it in. :icon_thumby:

Sorry for the loss reds61on. Awesome that you were able to save his truck & keep it going in his memory!!:icon_thumby:

Age doesn't matter my friend, I don't know how old people are on here but I am almost 40 & my passion for these vehicles will last as long as I do.

Just a little hint on the leaves in the cowl... If you haven't already, pull the blower motor out & the other piece to the right of it on the heater box( can't remember what it's called) & dig for leaves as best as you can. If the dry leaves come in contact with that "other piece", it can start a fire & fill the whole truck with smoke!!:icon_surprised: Ask me how I know!:shok:

Good luck with the Ranger :icon_thumby:

Welcome mate. Props for fixing up your dad's truck. My first car used to belong to my Grandfather and one of my biggest regrets is selling it instead of fixing it up.

Welcome! Age is only a number and my number is 49 but I feel like big kid so glad to have you here with us!

Yep, sure a warm welcome here also. Lot of good people and info here to help you out. They are great little trucks. Take the time to go thru it and find any hidden problem areas like the cowl you mentioned, good spot for rust to start. Like said "Age is only a number", don't think you are by any means the oldest here. I've owned at least one car longer than some here have been alive. Jump in and enjoy.
Dave

Welcome you are probably a lot older then me, but some of the characters on this website have some time and knowledge under there belt. Sorry to hear about your father but I think it is very cool to still have something as bad ass as a truck in his memory and w/ 66k miles!

good luck and maybe some pictures soon?
