Just signed up after surfing for a site about Rangers. I know next to nothing about cars and trucks and am willing/wanting to learn. I just bought a 94 Ranger from a buddy of mine. He knows even less then I do about vehicles and did almost nothing with the truck since he got it 3 years ago. Obviously I am changing the oil right away as he was unable to tell me when he had done it last. After that I am at a loss as to what maintenance I should preform. It has 126,000 on it and has sat for about 6 months. Any suggestons would be helpful. Thanks

Plugs, wires, check all oil levels, inspect brakes all around, new shocks, wheel bearings? I say start with the tune up change the PCV if it has one and air filter. Do you plan on making any upgrades? Pull up a chair if you plan on doing all the work yourself get a service manual and don`t be afraid to ask questions. We like pics!

Agree with above.. But if you are scared about working on the truck don't be afraid we all started a little nervous.. Have fun with it and learn with your hands.

Will try and get some pics up soon. A bit scared but I only have 500 into so I figured it would be good to "cut my teeth with" and worst case cut it lose or junk it. She is pretty rough shape. The steering wheel is finally starting to loosen up, thinking it sat so long the powerstearing needed a bit to get going again. It has around a 1/4 tank of gas would a fuel treatment be in order when I get some new fuel in it? Like a STP fuel injector cleaner or is stuff like that a waste of time and money? I am going to look for the PCV tonight. Looks like it might be trickey to find. Thanks for the info so far, its much appreciated.

Welcome to TRS~!

So...what engine does it have? not that it changes the above suggestions, but there is a place to add that information in your user account. Just click on the User CP at the top and fill in the blanks...also helps to know what transmission because it may need some attention there too...like changing the fluids...

We all start somewhere and these trucks are not very hard to maintain...just be patient and read, read, read, as much as you can...and ask questions when needed...there are so many helpful people on this site that you will have more information than you ever thought possible just by asking...and reading...

Above all else, enjoy your truck...they really are like pets...but they can bite you if you don't treat them right...
