Hell Yeah!!!!!

i think its safe to assume whoever was driving that is no longer with us? or someone just smashed it for fun?

Sorry, got a little wild with my baseball bat yesterday, I found out he stole my cookies that morning...

So I got bored as hell two weekends ago trying to figure out what to do with my other 302 so I can free up my engine stand for the 351. Well, I got the plasma cutter out and got the scrap steel together and just started cutting welding and measuring crap until I got this...

Not too bad for not running a bead with the stick welder in over 3 years. Something wasn't right with my arc length or amperage or something...too much spatter. Gotta practice more often.

This weekend I pulled the engine out of the car...only in a few hours.

Probably. I don't even know what rear is in it for sure. Definitely going with a top loader 4 speed though. And probably even a 428 one day. :icon_thumby:

I think my dad even mentioned the place in stratford. Sounds like some great references.

i will have to get some pictures of my BOCES ( NY's alternative vocational high school ) teacher's numbers matching 69 Mach 1 428 SCJ with the auto and Drag Pack that he pulled out of a field and restored in the mid 70's , it now sits in the woods behind his house where he parked it in 84 when his some was born , he has all the stuff to properly restore it , just has to start the delicate process of removing it from it's current resting place

got the pics , wish i had a better one of him and the car , his son has a better one , but it wont load

him and the car

I sure as hell hope he starts that very soon. Or at least sells it to someone who will restore it. Any longer and there won't be anything left of the chassis. If he doesn't, i'd say you better pay him a visit...and not in a good way.

2 302's and a 351, plus a c4 and c6 trans. Going to add a 428 and toploader 4 speed to the mix soon.

Duster, you mean to tell me that motor and trans were that clean when you pulled them? Must have all of five miles on them. When looking for a top loader, try and find one with the bigger input, 1 3/8". Even a mild build with a manual can twist that 1 1/16" shaft in no time.
As far as that other Mustang, that's sure a shame to see that. Those pine needles are really going to do some damage to that cowl area. Floor pans in those conditions, well they do make new ones.

The engine block and heads were rebuilt, as well as the trans at one point. Since I am not going to use the auto trans, that doesn't save any time, but the engine already being rebuilt, just needing a few gaskets, and accessories and all...it's going to save a bit of time.

I'll keep that in mind for the 4 speed. Definitely want to make sure it's strong.

And yeah, with that car there will probably be no frame left. Floorpans are nothing to replace, but the frame...well...you can get a donor car, but then what's the point in trying to build an original car, when almost all original stuff is not going to be usable or is from another car? Very sad indeed.

Hard to tell about the 'stang in the woods, I have seen some stuff that has been buried a long time look pretty good when unearthed. Since it only has been sitting since '84, it hasn't been buried that long. Unless it is in a swamp things usually don't sink like that overnight.

Plus... I have seen a lot of cars go to pot even though they driven very often due to rust. I know for a fact that the rear fenders on my Ranger would look a lot better if I hadn't daily driven in during winter in the early years.

from what i have been told the car is still fairly solid , they pulled one of the 4 69 stangs that sat out there for the past 20 plus years out last year , and every thing they took off unbolted after liberal amounts of PB Blaster. And if they need anything for the car he has a complete roller in the shop ( had his own trans shop next to his house , which is huge ) that was built 5 cars down the line after his , the drove to texas to get it.

EDIT: his son is a major driving force for this , all his son knows about the car is stories he has heard from others , so now he is pushing to get the cars out of the woods , and that car will never be for sale , and i plan on visiting him this week and checking out all of his cars
