i think its safe to assume whoever was driving that is no longer with us? or someone just smashed it for fun?
Probably. I don't even know what rear is in it for sure. Definitely going with a top loader 4 speed though. And probably even a 428 one day.
I think my dad even mentioned the place in stratford. Sounds like some great references.
I need to come see your stuff, mostly the mach 1 and sherman but the rangers too...sweet stang tho
Duster, you mean to tell me that motor and trans were that clean when you pulled them? Must have all of five miles on them. When looking for a top loader, try and find one with the bigger input, 1 3/8". Even a mild build with a manual can twist that 1 1/16" shaft in no time.
As far as that other Mustang, that's sure a shame to see that. Those pine needles are really going to do some damage to that cowl area. Floor pans in those conditions, well they do make new ones.

I sure as hell hope he starts that very soon. Or at least sells it to someone who will restore it. Any longer and there won't be anything left of the chassis. If he doesn't, i'd say you better pay him a visit...and not in a good way.

The engine block and heads were rebuilt, as well as the trans at one point. Since I am not going to use the auto trans, that doesn't save any time, but the engine already being rebuilt, just needing a few gaskets, and accessories and all...it's going to save a bit of time.
I'll keep that in mind for the 4 speed. Definitely want to make sure it's strong.
And yeah, with that car there will probably be no frame left. Floorpans are nothing to replace, but the frame...well...you can get a donor car, but then what's the point in trying to build an original car, when almost all original stuff is not going to be usable or is from another car? Very sad indeed.
Hard to tell about the 'stang in the woods, I have seen some stuff that has been buried a long time look pretty good when unearthed. Since it only has been sitting since '84, it hasn't been buried that long. Unless it is in a swamp things usually don't sink like that overnight.
Plus... I have seen a lot of cars go to pot even though they driven very often due to rust. I know for a fact that the rear fenders on my Ranger would look a lot better if I hadn't daily driven in during winter in the early years.
