Well, Im sure y'all have noticed I havent been on much lately. A couple weeks ago, my gf's jeep started ticking and knocking horribly (4,0L I6). So I parked it and found a parts jeep for $400. Turns out the motor only had 90K on it and looked imaculate inside (not even any sludge in the oil pan). So I got a great deal on it

Got the swap finished today and had time to take the oil pan off. Turns out #5 piston shattered for some reason. There was no other noticable damage.

What year is it? The late 90s-early 00s 4.0s are known for broken piston skirts.

yep......I had a dog.......errrr....dodge that did the EXACT same thang....

now...(war story).......them jeeps that we had in Nam wouldn't blow up for nothin...... (excluding land mines)

crazy how some jeeps are complete shit and others can keep going and going. my brother has a 96 XJ with 250k still going. i dont think he even changes the oil anymore. it's like they had a group of humans assembling some jeeps and a group of monkeys assembly others.

Which group built the good ones?

Jeep was a 1998 Grand Cherokee...Engine only had 175k on it, which is nothing for these jeeps.

Doorgunner, lmao for the landmine comment.

Apparently for some it is something. :icon_thumby:
