drive it till it breaks, fix it, and drive it again!
Can someone help identify the location where the "black ball" is supposed to be in the engine compartment? :icon_confused: Mine, i discovered, had made it's way down next to the passenger side exhaust manifold and is melted through and one out the hoses is disconnected... anyone know where i might find a new one, and how i might replace it?

Junk yard is prob your cheapest choice. Local ford dealer should have it to.

When you are in the junk yard you will be able to see how where it was mounted. I have seen it mostly on the passenger fender well

Black ball = Vacuum reservoir

Mounts on the passenger side fender well with two screws or bolts, up near the front of the engine compartment. It should have two hoses going to it. One from the intake manifold is to supply vacuum to the reservoir. The second goes to the heater control valve in the heater hose. This will close off the hot coolant from flowing through the heater core when the A/C is on and allow the flow of hot coolant when the heat is on.

You should be able to run the vacuum line direct to the heater control valve till you get a new or used reservoir. The heat may act funny under heavy acceleration due to low vacuum when the throttle body is wide open.

Bone yard best place as I would think all ford products would have one.

Best regards,
Chris M
