I have a 1998 2.5 ford ranger that has thrown me for a loop. The CEL came on and gave me a p1506 code which means IAC over speed error right? I replaced the part with a new one and must of leaned of the Heater Control Valve and broke it. So i replaced that part as well....now it gets fun. The idle seems to be a little better but now i have no heat coming out of the vents. I rechecked all the hoses and they are hot and not leaking or anything. The only way i get hot air from the heater is to uplug the little vacuum line that comes out of the Heater Control Valve. What is wrong here? did i miss something or what? also if the Heater Control Valve vacuum line was not working right would that cause a p1506 code do to the vacuum leak?

it sounds like you put the valve on backwards? I would not think the p1506 was caused by the heater valve

Okay i have changed the IAC and tha MAF and still have the code pop up , cant think of any thing else

Stop changing parts over a code. The code is only telling you what is wrong, not why.

Check all the parts in the system. If idle air is high check for vacuum leaks and loose parts.

You might have more than one problem, make sure each system is 100%

MODELAGEEK, not drunk or on drugs just looking for some imput , and there seems not to be much here for the little four bangers. I did ask a question and i did do a follow up and all i got back was stop changing parts over a code , big help thanks again for that. Turns out a bad DPFE has caused the idle to go nuts makeing code code p1506 come up. All the searchs i did on this fourm kept saying to change or clean the IAC or MAF thats what i did and thats what i followed up with. So anyway a bad DPFE would cause i crazy idle un plugging the IAC does not always change the idle if the DPFE is not working so any one else having an idle problem might want to check there first.

Booya half of your first post was about the heater control valve. I responded with a coherent post.(I did not answer everything because i was not positive of the answer) you never answered my post you never mentioned the heater control valve again . that was half your post..........people see that and will not give you much respect because it looks like you are not even paying attention........ cleaning the iac and the maf are maintainence issue. that is why people suggest them a lot . they cause a lot of problems and are cheap and easy to clean.Once you sober up and realize we are doing this on line and not in your garage in front of the vehicle maybe you will understand.we were doing fine before you got here and we will do better once you leave.........

MODELAGEEK, telling a new member that "we were doing fine before you got here and we will do better once you leave........" is a great way to lend a helping hand , i hope you are just as lucky to receive the same kind of help that i have got from you when you run into a problem . An opinion is just that an OPINION , and my opinion was that the information that yourself and others provided me were useless , you can take that how ever you want. To go out and say "are you drunk or on drugs" is just childish on your part. the point of this fourm is to help others try and figure out things they might not of thought of or over looked.
