Can anyone tell me which hose goes where off the heater core on an '87 2wd, 2.9l? PO bypassed it, so I just put a new one in and want to make sure I am routing the hoses correctly...Thanks.

Hi,, I dont think it makes much difference where each hose attachs to core. I by-passed mine(;88 Bronco II) to keep hot water from going thru core in the hot summers here in Texas. water runs thru core either way,, no shut off valve to the core either. hope this helps,,,Larry,, in hot 105F Texas but keepin cool in the 50F a/c'ed BII.

I don't see that it matters either but I looked on mine and the hose from the water pump goes to the heater core tube on the pass side of the truck.

The only restriction on the heater system is the thermostat, and it is only for flow restriction, not direction.
It makes absolutely no difference where the hoses for the heater core are attached, as long as they are attached when you want heat. The heater core is nothing but a hollow tube with fins, and will will work no matter which direction the water flows through it.
