Heater core

Heater core, got it fixed with garden hose!!

Anybody ever removed their old heater core on a 1996 or equal years ranger and installed a new one?

no, but i have seen a formula that proves that a dog chasing a squirrel into a tree makes mathematical sense.

Seriously thought, i think you just take out the plastic box under the passenger's side, unhook the heater hoses, and then pop the sucker out. Might have to bang the old core lines out of their holes. They do like to get stuck.

pretty sure alldata calls for 6 hours to replace that aka pull the dash out. but there is a flat rate way for everything lol
 
I'm pretty sure you dont need to pull the dash on a Ranger, just remove the glove box.

Dump in some Bar's and see if that fixes the problem.
 
It's a real pain in the butt. But it's do-able with some hand tools.

You have to take the whole dashboard off. A Haynes manual has a good description of it. I did it myself just following that book. Give it at least a whole Saturday afternoon, maybe longer.

I would only trust the Haynes guide line only so far. Problem solving skills will probably be required.
 
Barrs will fix the core so you don't get heat.
Silver seal is iffy, but it is a better idea than Barrs.
Ground pepper will work for a long time, egg white will plug the leak, but it smells bad after while.
It takes about 2 hours to pull the dash and a half hour or so longer to put it back in.
Have a friend or your wife take picture of everything you remove as you do it, that will be your road map to put it back in, and will also make a good "How To".

ive changed the heater core on my 95 ranger......................... NIGHTMARE i started off with 0 nuts and bolts.... after all done i had like 3 little 4"x2"x"2 boxes filled with them... lol

and yes the whole dash needs to come out.. you cant get to it by just removing the glove box... and when i mean the whole dash i mean EVERYTHING untill you see ur firewall and thats it

I think you might be confused?? I don't have a leak in my heater core and you sure as hell don't want to ( AD STUFF ) to your cooling system to ( CLEAR UP ) an already ( PLUGGED UP ) heater core. :icon_thumby:

Bars is for PLUGGING holes and not UNCLOGGING them:icon_twisted: my heater core is PLUGGED UP enough with old sealers. What gave you the impression I had a LEAK? because I didn't mention a leak and certainly don't have one.
