Heater core

So Im sure you guys have been asked this a thousand times but I have to go to work in like 5 hours and its starting to get cold. I just changed the radiator in my truck today because I hit a deer at the beginning of summer and it has benn leaking ever since. Well I let the truck warm up and take it for a spin to make sure everything is cool. On my drive I flip it to dfrost turn it to hot and turn the fan on high speed. Instantly my window fogs. WTf. iS MY HEATER CORE SHOT. I hope not. I dont smell coolant in the truck but also dont know where the heater core is. its a 89 2.9 BTW. ranger. I need help ASAP. Thanks in advance.

nothing leaking into the cab or on the ground? usually a hose or clamp, but could be the core. the new rad undoubtedly has more pressure than the old leaky one and maybe it blew something out. i feel your pain... in the high 20's here last night. i am so NOT looking forward to another northern Minnesota winter!! good luck!


btw, did you replace the thermostat at the same time? just another thought.

Your heater core is easy to get at. Under the glove box are 5 plastic screws which hold on the trim which hides the heater core. Drop the trim and look at it.

Just hitting a deer shouldn't have killed your heater core. Are you sure you weren't just blowing moist air onto your wind shield due to humidity and your A/C not kicking in?

it will take you longer to buy a heater core then to change it.
