Thanks for help from @mhoward , I now have heated mirrors and puddle lights on my ‘96 with 2006 mirrors. Bezel from a ‘97 Explorer so I could use the defroster switch. Puddle lights from Late 2000-early 2010s Ford/Lincolns. Wired heated mirrors through GEM and a relay, following factory diagrams. Wired the puddles to come on when door unlocked, opened, when headlights are on and blink with turn indicators.

Very clean install. Looks good

I’ve been intending to do puddle lights and stuff on my 00 Ranger. I have mirrors off an Explorer with the puddle lights but I haven’t been able to figure out the heated mirror part. There’s an old write up floating around here that tells you about a heated mirror with turn signals built in but that part doesn’t seem to exist anymore.

I’ll be glad to help any way I can. I used the GEM like Ford did for the timer. @mhoward used a separate timer.

I may end up stripping the wiring and GEM out of my donor Explorer and put it in the Ranger that’s getting the mirrors. I’ve been planning on integrating the info center and heater controls out of my donor but after pulling that stuff and looking at the wiring, I’m thinking I might be farther ahead to just swap the wiring rather than trying to integrate it.
