95 Ranger has no temp control.I removed the blend door actuator. It is not working.Installed it in a buddies ranger wiring harness,it works fine.I am not getting power at any of the pins for the actuator connector.A/C and vent position switch works as advertised.I checked the fuses, and all were ok.Any ideas? Thanks.

no power to blend door motor

Found the power problem for my blend door actuator motor.Fuse #10 supplies power through the heater control panel to the actuator motor,at least on my 95 ranger.Replaced the faulty fuse...everything is working.Hope this helps someone down the road

Don't want to start a new thread with the same name so...
I cannot get the heat to go only to defrost, it will still spit out of the panel. I have Heat and AC if I select them. The problem is the diverter will not change the air flow to totally defrost or totally floor, there is always something coming out of the panel. Is this normal for Rangers? 2000 2.5 2wd. I chased all the vacuum lines looking for a leak but the blend door works fine and vacuum seems to be applied to the switch as the off function at least works. I also noticed that even in heat mode the AC compressor clutch will flicker on and off say every 20-30 seconds. Normal?
Thanks in advance for the help.

A bass-ackward way to troubleshoot that is, disconnect the vaccum source going into or out of the reservoir (the plastic sphere or torpedo shaped vacuum accumulator/reservoir). That should default-flow all air to the windshield. If it doesn't, the door is physically blocked by some debris or you have a bad actuator.

There is also the possibility that the HVAC Control has a leak inside it, which is diverting vaccum flow from that door. If that were true, disconnecting all vaccum into the HVAC (as described above) will make all the airflow divert to the windshield, meaning your door and actuator work fine, but the control is bad.

You should be able to turn off flow from the panel vents, in the Def and Floor positions, absolutely.

Your compressor clutch behavior is normal.

Any one able to tell me what position that blend door should be on to get full defrost it would be greatly apprectiated...sitting in my truck waiting for the defrost to take care of the ice is going to be way better than having to scrape it no matter what like last year. Thanks for the aid Earl.

So far have found that all vac lines work. tried the method Earl but nothing changed. I tore apart the top end of the dash to find 2 pencils and a pen down in the central system so now I can get all floor all dash or a mix of those two but defrost is weak at best. The floor shuts off on all defrost but the panel still blows and a little bit of air gets up to the defroster. I watched the two actuators that control this and it shows that the upper mounted actuator with the red line will activate vacuum on all floor, makes sense to me as I see that closes the door in a manner that all air goes to the floor. If I hit defrost the red releases vacuum and the blue and yellow work together to close the floor off completely. Who controls panel off defrost full on? middle, lower, or blend under the glove box? The switch does work according to the diagram I received from another thread. I did notice that the upper actuator when vacuum is released doesn't stroke out very far.

well, culprit found. This seems so unreasonable but the door that diverts defrost or panel isn't even close to being on the hinge point, it is in there very very sideways with the end that receives the actuator turn style pointed up at me instead of straight across the truck cab. Problem, I found this from feeling around and dropped my screw driver all the way down the friggin tunnel D'OH!! Anybody know how to take the dash assembly and heating cooling duct assembly apart so that I can retrieve my tool and put the dang door back on the hinge point? I am at a loss for words as to how that door could have ended up like that other than the previous owner who seemed to like to drop pens and pencils down into the duct work. (I found 3...so far).:bawling::icon_confused:

Thanks Earl for pointing me to the culprit.
