I have a 1998 ford ranger ext cab, 3.0 auto and I was wondering if anyone out there has any idea of why my heat is all i have. I can have my dial all the way on blue ( cold ) and i still get the same temp as i do on red ( heat ). i do not know if this is just because i have a hole in my condenser and no freeon at all. or if there is another problem. please help me it is getting hot here.

if your knobs are electrical control then the flap/rudder that directs your air could have a bad servo... that is a likely case if your A/C cycles on and off when you have that on...

EDIT: could be a vacuum leak...

broken blend door. Is a huge problem in fords or as killroy said bad servo or vacuum.

Same Problem

Hi I have a 97 3.0 4wd with the same problem....allot of post point to the blend door ; a question i have is that EVERY TIME I start my truck i can hear a "CLUNK" in the heater box that is a door or flap closing / opening ?? , I wondering if this is normal . I have heat all the time & my AC only works on MAX i think & only have the 2 higher fan speed settings . Summer is coming and i so have to attempt a repair ...THE DREDDED blend door nail fix if that is the case ; I'll check the actuator motor first to see if it is working..........but i would like to know why i have that CLUNK every time at start .
Appreciate any info that can help all of us

if it's vacuum, then it would actuate when the engine starts producing vacuum... you should get a vacuum diagram and make sure everything is working correctly. if you take it all apart I'd recommend you take some colored heat shrink tube and mark your tubes at the ends so you know the next time you are looking which tube goes where... it just looks clean compared to tape.
