i just bought plain ole dark blue headliner material from the local fabric store.. lol. boring i know.. but sure beats the stock headliner that was falling in my face

well mine aint falling, all i have is that yellow foam shit and every time i rub my hands on it I get yellow cancer powder in my face. I wanna get a realtree type headliner or maybe a suede tan, something nice, just to spruce up my nasty truck a bit. But not sure type of material yall used or what works, or what is durable (except with the suede thats self explanatory)

I did blue bandana along with my door cards to match my blue interior

This was the original plan:

But it changed to this when I couldn't find the proper pattern for the headliner:

Here is the headliner(sorry its awkward trying to get a headliner pic in a single cab, and its a little dark) :

Me likey! Having that little bit of pattern to break things up a bit really looks good :icon_thumby:

i love it.. i'm trying to find something to do with mine, but with that 1st gen, its kinda hard to figure out what i wanna do.

Since mine is going to have a blue interior I was thinking of using a blue denum material. Should be able to get it real easy and it is durable as anyone that has ever worn jeans knows. I would think that it can be had in other colors as well.

Thanks guys. It looks way better than the faded stock blue. Gives the interior a custom touch. But its not over the top

mine didn't come with a headliner. bare metal up there. got a box of the self adhesive carpet tiles from one of the larger diy box stores and a can of permatex adhesive. now i have some nice, insulated carpeting up there helping to keep the cab much warmer and quieter. works for me.

Yeah I redid the falling healiner in my 87. Only issue, I ran out of the good adhesive and finished the last bit with a low end spray adhesive. That part just happens to be above my head. Lesson? Use high quality spray adhesive! I plan on doing something more festive when I pull the interior to redye all the mismatched faded panels. If you don't use headliner material then you'll need to first attach thin foam then the material to give your headliner the normal look and give a bit of padding to prevent putting dents/holes in the headliner should you hit it with something. Also ensure to remove all the old foam. I did it with my DA and 120 grit and a light hand. Also you can patch the headliner backer with regular bondo or fiberglass. Worked perfectly for me.
