how do headers help a 3 litre in performance and if so what brand and is it worth to pick up a pair
thanks Jason
They should add power but has any one had experine with th my truck is as 1999 w/ 102000

Check out this page http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/3_0performance.html. Thats basically everything you can do to the motor. Dont expect the 3.0 to turn into a powerful beast. It just isnt gonna happen. All you can really do is make the exhaust louder and get some ft pounds for torque. I think what you should do is get a 302 in there. That sounds more like what you want.

I would save your money, unless you have money to spare. They will give you a more throaty sound to your exhaust, and look nice, but that's about it. Now if you put a supercharger on there, that is where they'll come in handy and actually gain you additional hp. But, it's just that a stock 3.0 doesn't out flow the stock manifolds. There are greater restrictions, such as the TB, Intake manifolds, and heads.

i whole-heartedly disagree. the stock "log" manifolds are absolute rubbish. headers are the ONLY exhaust modification that will gain you a noticeable amount of power.

a super will gain you plenty of power, but they are also very expensive and require custom fabrication. a set of headers is a good start to a decent n/a build.

I really don't think there're worth the money unless you open up the top end as well, such as a with a complete build. Headers alone wouldn't gain much.
