My credo
If it ain't broke, I can't fix it.
I put an 89 5.0 Mustang engine with GT40 Explorer heads in my buddy's 98 Ranger last year using the factory 96 Explorer headers (with the heat shields). The headers have numerous cracks in them with leaks so we wanted to replace them.

We already have from a prior project a set of the Ford Racing Explorer 5.0 GT40P headers that we would like to use, but are wondering if the ports are different. Any ideas?

Just a slight one I believe. Easiest way to be sure is get a set of gaskets and check.

Not to get off topic but what spark plug wires does your buddy have so that they don't touch his current factory headers? Im running the same factory headers on my swap and sine of my wires touch them causing a few too get burned. Are they 90 degree plug boots or a mix and match set? If you please could, can you hey a few pictures of the plug writing roughts?

If those after market headers ones don't work, maybe the factory cast manifold set will do too. They are cheap and flow better too.

use factory explorer ends...they are mix match. i have a brand new oem set but i dont know if i want to part with em. go to the junkyard:thefinger:

If I can find time to go to the jy again I would. Should have pulled a bunch of wires and see what would have worked for me, but I was on a time schedule that day.
