i have a 2007 fx4 with the 4.0 i just got pacesetter headers and i was wondering if dual 2 inch exhaust with flomaster 40 series mufflers would be to loud and does anyone know if the stage 8 locking header bolts from a 4.6 L motor will work with these headers

Probably it won't be too loud, but 1) where are you going to put the cat(s) and 2) it is difficult to run pipe down the left side because of the gas tank and the t-case and crossmember don't make it easy either.

Thanks for the info though, I didn't know Pacesetter made headers for the 4.0 SOHC. Until now, JBA was the only game in town and pricey as hell.

i was hoping to run them down the passanger side and im removing my spare tire and running them out the back and im probly gonna either take the cats out or just cut and split the y pipe into 2

It is illegal to remove the cats and on a truck as new as an '07 you will probably never get the CEL to turn off if you do. Easiest and legal would be to leave the cat (it isn't very restrictive anyway) and use a single-in dual-out muffler. Simple fact is that a 4.0 is about 230 cubic inches and doesn't flow enough air to NEED a true dual 2" system. It won't make any difference. For example, Gibson sells a single system and a single-in dual-out system and quotes higher hp and torque gains with the single.

i live in alberta canada so knowone ever look or checks for the cat to be in we have no smog tests or anything and i wanted to run the true duals because i already have the mufflers from a previous project

here we go again...

He's 100% right, the only way to get rid of the CEL is with a 500$ handheld programmer and MIL deletes which are another 200 buck.s Its not worth it on anything newer than 92

Dont say this.... to many people just waiting to start an argument about the above mention legality. Reword it.

I didnt see this...technically he's not bound by US federal Laws as long as he doesnt drive over here.

oH yeah the point I was gettin at was...... I cut the flanges off an old set of cats I had lying around and welded them to my mufflers then just bolted the mufflers inplace.

Are your headers longtubes or shorties? SHorties should bolt right up to the factory exhaust cats and all. Longtubes will need to be fabbed. And I recommend running longtubes with an offroad h pipe.
