Would header wrap reduce heat from the exhaust coming into the body? This is just a general question, my ranger never had that problem and i would love to avoid it in that, but i have an 86 rolla, and the exhaust gets soooo hot an runs directly under the handbrake and it sits maybe 2-2.5 below the body. I was thinking of a combo of header wrap and exhaust paint as well

Yes, it help keep heat out of the body. It also keeps more heat in the exhaust which can cause the pipe to get brittle and crack. This is mostly a problem with headers. Once it gets farther away from the engine it is less likely to happen. Stainless seems to stand up to it better too.

Alright, well i probably need to change the cat, so i was gonna have the piping inspected as well and if it is necessary from the age of the car and stock piping i was going to replace it from the cat back.
