Looking around online at some headers for my ranger, I noticed the year breaks from 90-94, 95-97, and so on. Mines a 94, if I were to do the newer head model swap, are the header designs head specific or frame design specific.

What is different between the 91-94 & the 95-on is the input flange on the catalytic converter

1990-92 headers & Y-pipe are all the same, but 1993-94 will be slightly different from the earlier headers in one respect...

1990-92 have a single HEGO port right at the collector of the Y-pipe
1993-94 will have two HEGO ports in the Y-pipe, just below the header collector on either side.
1995-97 will have a different CAT flange
1998-on will have some frame clearance issues if you attempt to put them
into an earlier TTB truck

Since virtually all headers come as part of a kit that includes a Y-pipe you can see why a different cat flange makes things different...

The exhaust flanges are the same on any 4.0OHV engine
