I found a header at the junk yard and it is in perfect condition. The problem is on my 2.0L head exhaust side, there are little holes under each port that I believe were for the egr. The header does not cover them completely. What can plug he hole with?

Hi Dan,

Did you replace the gasket? That should cover most of it, but if you put in some of that liquid metal stuff or JB Weld and then cover it with the new gasket from a 2.3 it should work...the liquid metal stuff is designed to harden when heated and takes a bit of warm up/cool down cycles to fully cure...like run the engine for 10 minutes, shut it off and let it cool...then run the engine a bit longer and it should be cured by that process.

Thank you mi friend and I were talking about JB welding it. The gasket for the 2.0 is the same as the 2.3 right?

I stuffed lead sinkers in my 2.0 head when I swapped on the 2.3 shorty header...I remembered this after because I was thinking they may shoot out like bullets...but I managed to not shoot anyone driving around...they were still in there after I removed the original head...

Well if the ports genuinely are for EGR then they would be under vacuum at the head side, not pressure.

They were on the exhaust side just under the exhaust manifold so I thought they'd be under pressure...but now that you mention it, they would have had vacuum to pull the exhaust fumes into the EGR...hmmmm...maybe the 2.0 head was better designed than I'd thought...
