Ok i got a stock stater realized that the starter was touching the header. So i had a buddy tell me about 70 mustang starter. Tried that wouldn't hit the flexplate. So got two mini stater/power master pwm9603 and 9604 and both of them wouldn't hit the flexplate as well. Running out of ideas. the header part number is HED-89500 from summitracing. have a c4 with 157 tooth flexplate and small bell housing.

I had this problem as well when I first did my swap. The stock starter is just plain too long. I went with a early to mid 90's, F150 starter (sorry I don't remember a part number). I do have the C-6 which may make a difference. This starter is a lot smaller than than the early, stock starters. Hope this helps.:icon_thumby:

I ran the older big starter when I had the 89500's and had zero issues with that combo as far as the starter went. Where are they contacting each other ?
