Ok, im looking to replace my head unit to something that looks better and i can plug an ipod into instead of the giant 6 cd changer, but wow theres way more room there than whats needed for the new head unit. What have you guys done with that extra space, leave it? Oh and has anyone ever put subs in the giant door pocket area of the back doors in an extended cab? Pics would be great or an explanation. thanx

1) if you get an installation kit, there should be a "junk area" that is included... put this below it so that the head unit is supported on three sides, rather than putting the junk slot above
2) putting subs in doors can create a ton of rattling, and also won't be an exactly air tight place to keep one (and not to mention it'd be hard to calculate the interior air volume)... put them in a proper enclosure and they will perform so much better.

:icon_thumby: thanks haha.

no prob.
just a question i have now, you say put the junk thing on the bottom but i see a lot of them on top. I did mine on the bottom but do you know what makes people put it on top. It made more sense on the bottom to me.

no clue. i'm not sure it REALLY matters.. but it does make more sense to have it supported on 3 sides, especially on the bottom because it is the most area, and it should help with cd's skipping...

not sure what would make people put it on top, then again most people don't think(not that it's bad, i'm not sure i would have before i read somewhere to put it on the bottom for more support) and probably just put it wherever.

thanx and i was thinking of somehow building an enclosure and putting it where the pockets used to be prolly more work than its worth i guess. Are these kits specifically for rangers or what? thanks

you can basically get one for any car imaginable. Just find one that says it fits a ranger and your year and you should be good to go
