I have a damaged cylinder head on a 1999 Ranger 3.0 engine. Can I put a 1989 Bronco II 2.9 cylinder head on this block. I have both heads and intake from the 2.9 They look identical.
Can I change one head or do I have to change both heads.

Thanks

i dont think so. the vulcan 3.0 and the cologne 2.9 are two way different engines that are only realated by how close the number is of displacement. it wont work. you ned 3.0 heads for a 3.0, they dont interchange with anything!

88gt is right. the 2.9 and 3.0 are not related and no parts are interchangable.

but dont fret, the 3.0 was one of the most prolific engines ford made. you can use the head off of a similar year tauras, ranger, or aerostar. hit the junkyard and youll walk home with a head for cheap.

no need to swap both heads if the other side is known to be good.
