My credo
the grey-t escape
may possibly need a new head for my 94 2.3, any advantage to putting on a diffrent year of head, say one from a 2.5 that might have bigger valves? looks like my best bet on a replacement is rock auto, saw i could get a aluminum head from autozone, but i dont thiink id gain much from that, assuming its even a real thing and not a typo, ive never seen anything but cast iron on a 2.3

If you want to know, read the 1st paragraph of the link below:

http://therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9

The head you have is:

Quote:In ’89 the 2.3 was changed to a DIS (Distributorless Ignition System) ignition utilizing a new 8-plug head. This head had larger evenly spaced D-shaped intake ports and was used until the end of production of the 2.5 in ‘01.

I guess you have the above... the valve stem diameter changed over time, so there is that, which affects the cam followers. That makes them not quite swappable without change over that range of years.

BUT, read further, and there is an opinion that some later years are better. I think the combustion chamber shape changed... or not.
