OK so I am in the market for heads. I was offered a good deal from a local performance shop, I am going to fix his bedside and paint it for him and he's going to give me a store credit of around $6-700. I am going to use it for a set of heads. He gets most major brand but I am stuck between Edelbrock rpm, AFR 165 or the Trick Flow Twisted Wedge. I have done some research to knock it down to these 3 but cant figure out which one would be better for my application.

stock 302 shortblock
24lb injectors
1.6rr
either 65 or 70mm tb
explorer gt40 intake

Any advice?

im a little partial to the eddy heads, they work well.

AFR165's, Canfields or Brodix.

I have actually added the brodix ST on my list but i can't find much on the canfields for some reason.

Its hard to figure out everything. I want something that will work with the stock pistions and give me the extra power i would like to see.

I've got a set of Canfields, no complaints from them, had em for 5 years now on a 331. The ones I have are the equivalent of the AFR165's. I was going to go with Brodix based on having a friend who's an engine builder & a dealer for them, but fell into the Canfields on ebay for $1000, they're $1400 heads.

Well if you are using stock pistons then rule out the trick flow and stay with 1.94/1.6 sized or smaller valves in the heads.

I thought the TF's worked with the stock dished pistons

I went with the AFR-165's. Dead drop in replacement. Some might call that design old school, well so is the 302. Have no plans to increase power over what these can produce. Not sure what the other heads look like in the ports, if they are machined or left as cast. This is a crappy picture of the 165's showing the machined vane/ramp or flow guider around the valve stem in intake, exhaust is the same way.
