No expert, but my 2 cent. First pic, I'd be concerned about sealing around that water jacket, it looks rough and pitted. Second pic, I don't see anything I'd be very concerned about. It's difficult to really tell anything through a computer screen.

I would probably resurface based on the first pic, but someone else might say to just apply a liberal coat of sealant.

Looks like it was cleaned with a wire wheel of some type.

I'd get it surfaced.

What's a machine shop cost to skim a couple heads these days in the USA? (I honestly have no idea). My method would be to weigh that cost vs the cost and trouble of having to do the job again
On a lot of jobs I'd probably push my luck a little bit but heads probably aren't something you want to have to do again soon right?

On my little phone screen it looks problematic. I'd probably still run it because I'm cheap and like to live on the edge. (And yeahI don't think a gasket alone is going to seal that, you might have to get creative with some sealant if you were to run it)

I paid a shop $228 earlier this year to resurface and magnaflux two heads.

You can get a brand new pair of 93TM heads on eBay for about $500 right now... I would check what you have with a straight edge and run 'em if they're not warped. If there's any question, just replace them with new.

Guess we're past the days when it was $35 a head huh? 😂

As mentioned, it’s difficult to really see in the pictures. I would probably get them machined, simply because I’m lazy and don't Want to repeat the job. It all comes down to how lucky you feel.

I'd resurface those to avoid doing it all over again.

I'd definately have them resurfaced. If you're questioning it, then do it! It cost me $250 to have mine resurfaced, magnafluxed and a three angle valve job. It's better to do it right now than have issues and have to do it all again later.

lifting the heads off of these is a risky proposition. the block side in the rust belt really hurts them.

based on the pics....i would run it.

that is if your time and budget constrained.

because depending on where you live....you may as well buy reman heads as most machine shops will be a week or 10 out for this thing

I wouldn't worry about that coolant port. Still plenty of meat left. (You can see where the original gasket sealed.) Now the general roughness concerns me. My heads were almost as smooth as glass when they were put back on. Were they cleaned with a wire wheel?

Agreed w/ Snoob. The gasket will form fit to a point ...and I can see how the might be a benefit,. But mine were smooth when I did mine. I got pics but I'm on my phone.
