Have Initial Issues With The New Ranger Been Addressed?

Ok – So after tons of research here on the forum and other on line sources I was getting really close to taking the new truck plunge. Then today, while seeking information on cabin noise, I found a pretty discouraging article pointing out issues with the 2019 Ranger. (the article link is below) I did expect some issues with the re-release of the Ranger but some of the things are concerning, especially the following:

Cabin wind noise (from window and door panel)
Suspension issue causing truck to lean
Misaligned rear passenger door
Discoloration on door panel
Broken seat floor latch
Rear seat latch
Bent floor pan
And more ….

I guess what really concerns me are the issues that Ford considers are “normal”.

Is there anywhere on line I can go to see if Ford has addressed and corrected some of all of these issues on the 2020 model?

I skimmed over the article.
There is no date provided.
Some of the complaints seem to be from one vehicle, rather than being common to most.
The article seems well written and doesn't seem to be false. But I didn't delve into the website to see what it was all about. Perhaps some forum members want to check into it?

I have not experieinced any of these issues. So far the only issue I might have had was for the tail light wiring and it was checked to be fine under a recall.

Also, Ford is not going to pay to ship your vehicle back to where ever you bought it or regularly service it if you break down out of town. They are gonna have it fixed on site.

Well I mean some of those issues stated in the OP's post have been the same problems they've had for decades, you'd think they could at least fix a few of them....then again when everything is mass produced you get what you pay for in paying for the robots to build hundreds of thousands of vehicles wrong because that's how the robot was programmed LOL.

Although for the ridiculous prices they're charging consumers you'd think the quality would be a hell of a lot better. Suspension issue causing truck to lean, shit they all do that regardless which brand stickers the truck has it seems. My 2008 Toyota Tundra leaned too.

The issue with the lean is that when you put a 25-50 lb battery, a 150-200 lb driver, and a 2-300 lb fuel tank all on the same side of a 1/4 ton (500 lb carry cap) pickup, it will tend to lean to that side.

Weird. I would think it's a bit early for the 2019 Ranger to lean. That usually comes from time and wear.

Why not just drive from the passenger seat off and on every year to guarantee no lean? lol. Mine leans toward the back as if its hauling ass even when sitting still. No side to side lean though. Guess mine never had full tanks of gas put in it. I know I never filled it up as I'm superstitious about full gas tanks is when things break in a bad way.

None of my 1st gens leaned.....

Yours must rust more the drivers side to offset the weight of the driver and fuel tank.

Mine did lean. There is no reason they shouldn't since they have a lot more weight on one side of the truck than the other.

This is in regards to the possible lean issue only.

Just for the heck of it … I’m not an engineer or claim to be the smartest person in the room but …… According to my calculations:

The fuel tank itself weighs about 20 to 25 pounds, fuel weighs 6 pounds per gallon and the 2020 Ranger holds 18 gallons. So when topped off the tank and fuel weight combined is around 133 pounds.

An average battery weighs around 40 pounds

Considerations:

* The lean should be measured without occupants.
* Location of the fuel tank. (I can’t find a diagram showing where it is but I’d hope it’s somewhere close to vehicle center/rear.
* Location of the battery – It’s way up front and only 40 pounds. This shouldn’t contribute to any rear lean.

Conclusion …. In my opinion …. and I could be wrong! Adding an anticipated 133 pounds of fuel and tank to the rear of a $40,000 four-wheel drive truck should not cause a lean. My 2000 XLT still doesn’t. (105,000 miles)

It is a spring fatigue thing, even trucks with the battery on the other side of the truck (like mine) can lean too. Nothing new, it has been talked about on here for the 18 years I have been here.

Actually, I'm ok with a slight lean from spring fatigue. But I still feel that a vehicle as expensive as they are now should come out of the dealer lean free ... or at least very close.

Regarding my original post: I was more concerned with that rear door 'misalignment" and excessive cabin noise from the right rear door of the Super Cabs that not only appeared in that article but has been discussed here on TRS. I'm also concerned about that interior door panel discoloration. I take exceptionally good care of my cars and THAT would drive me nuts! (Also, I do realize that the discoloration COULD have been from something spilled on it)
