Recently, I swapped in a 5 speed in my ranger and tore the engine down for a full rebuild. While the clutch and trans worked wonderfully, I had a serious vacuum leak that I couldn't pin down causing a horrible idle. Before the swap I had 18" of vacuum with a steady gauge needle. Afterwards, I could only squeeze 10" and the needle was not steady.

Turns out the EGR must of gotten some loose carbon during the cleaning process and got stuck open. Blocked it off and viola! Purrs like a kitten. :D
