Just trying to be prepared for the day I might come across a '90 - '92 harness at the junkyard. Any unusual tools required? Does the intake manifold need to come off?

A good set of picks to disconnect old stubborn connectors without breaking them...

Gatorade, rags, patience

DPDIS,

Complete brand new in box engine bay and cabin computer harnesses on eBay for 90, 91 and 92's.

Thanks, I hadn't even considered that a new one might be available. But I just now looked and I'm only finding them for the 2.3.

+1 on the pick tools and WD40.

There's the bolt in the big round connector on the firewall; I think it takes a 10mm socket. A 1/4" drive ratchet, an extension or two, and a rack of deepwell sockets are easy to carry, and I think there'll be a couple of grounding rings you'll need to unbolt (likely 8mm and/or 10mm).

Taking pictures as you remove the donor harness may come in handy later, too.

Taking pictures is cheating! You do it like the rest of us! Rip it out blindly, forget about it for 2 years, then try to put it back from memory!

^^^+1 Been there and doing that... except I had my connectors labeled, but the writing is worn off.
