hi guys has anyone taken off the balancer before i just picked up a used 2.9 that i am going to rebuild but i cannot get the bal off i have a puller but its not the right one any help would be great.

Is the crank bolt still in the crank shaft? The center of the puller needs to push against that or else the end of the crank will get damaged. FWIW, get the right puller if it's not the right one.

I had to loosen the center bolt of the HB, (3-4 revs) and start to move the HB a bit with the puller ...remove the puller and turn the center blot another 3-4revs...reattach the puller and move it a bit again..then repeat ...remove the puller and turn the center blot another 3-4revs...reattach the puller and move it a bit again.

the reason I found is there is a very heavy washer inside of the HB that the puller can't go thru to actually push on the crank shaft and pull the HB off....so basically pulling & pushing on itself

the correct puller may compensate for this...IDK.
