1999 Ranger, 3.0L V6, Flex fuel has 116,000 miles.

Truck always starts when cold. Runs great after it starts.

When fully up to tempature the truck is hard to restart. The truck cranks strong but does not start, almost like it is not getting fuel. If left for 5 -10 minutes it starts and runs great.

For example, after several hours of highway driving the truck would not start after filling it up. 5 minutes later the truck started and ran great for several more hours.

Truck has 2 codes:
P0176 - Flex Fuel sensor

P0136 - O2 Sensor - bank 1 sensor 2

Any ideas on what could be causing the hard starting issue when the truck is hot? Could either codes be the cause of the problem.

Thanks for the help!

If you can I'd check for good plug spark when hot and no start. If you are getting good spark then you can OHM test engine coolant temp. sensor (not gauge switch) to see if it needs replacing.

I had that exact problem and replaced the ignition switch and instantly cured.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I was looked for an ignition switch. I found a Mallory Unilite Ignition Module for $107.00. Is the ignition switch that you replaced the same thing as this Mallory Unilite Ignition Module?

Thanks again for the help.

I belive it is under the steering column and a replacement is $20 at any autoparts store.
That's where it is on my '95 .
